Get a phone number and forward your calls
Your voice agent gets its own local number during setup. To have it answer the number customers already know, forward your calls to it: dial *72 and the new number, or ask your carrier for conditional forwarding.
Your new number. During setup we pick a local number in your city's area code. You'll find it on Home and in Settings → Business as Front desk number.
Keep your existing number. Forward it to your voice agent so customers keep calling the number they know (Voice agent → Settings shows the codes for your phone company):
- On the phone line you want answered, dial *72 followed by your business number.
- Wait for the tone, then hang up.
- Call your old number from another phone to test it.
To forward only the calls you miss, ask your carrier for conditional call forwarding. Dial *73 to stop forwarding. Codes can differ by carrier.
Or move your number to us for good. Under the forwarding codes, choose Move my number. We check the number can move, then you add the account details from your current phone company's bill (name, account number, PIN for mobile numbers, service address), sign the authorization form we fill in for you, and upload it with a recent bill. Your number keeps working with your current company until the moment it moves, so nothing goes down. Most moves take 1 to 2 weeks, and moving is free. We email you when your current company confirms the date, and if they send it back, with their reason. Once it moves, the voice agent answers it directly and you can turn off forwarding. Texts from it work once it's part of your texting registration.
A second number, for another location or a campaign, is the Extra phone number add-on ($19.99/month) in Billing.
Calls work right away. Texts from a new number need texting registration first.
