Texting registration (A2P 10DLC)
US carriers require every business that texts from a regular local number to register first. It's called A2P 10DLC. Calls work right away; texts deliver reliably once it's approved, usually in a few days.
What it is. A2P 10DLC means application-to-person texting on a 10-digit long code: business texts from a normal local number. The US carriers ask every business to register who it is and what it texts about.
Why it matters. Unregistered business texts get filtered or blocked, so replies and follow-ups wouldn't arrive.
What's needed. The business's legal name and address, its EIN (US tax ID) if it has one, a website, sample messages, and how people agree to get texts (for example, they text first, or tick a box on a booking form).
How long. Usually a few days. When the carriers are busy it can take two to three weeks. The status shows as Not started, Pending or Approved.
Agencies register each client from Inventory → Phone lines: choose Register next to the number. It's $179 one time, then $19.99/month per client. We file it with the carriers and handle their follow-up questions.
